At The Moscone Center, and within ASM Global as a whole, we are strong believers in Corporate Responsibility. The Moscone Center is uniquely situated within the Yerba Buena community, a diverse area that hosts arts, entertainment, restaurants, retail and a growing neighborhood. As members of this community, we understand that we have an impact on the community and we make it our mission to support the area and to minimize our impact. This support comes in the form of contributions of time, talent, and resources to schools, food banks, and community organizations.
Many of our client partners who host events at The Moscone Center have found unique ways to give back to the community, and for that we remain very thankful! Beneficiaries include feeding programs at the San Francisco Food Bank, St. Anthony's Foundation, Salvation Army, Dolores Street Services, AIDS funding organization Under One Roof, Bay Area high school prom organizing committees, and children's arts and crafts programs.
Among the greatest contributions we make each year to our community are the benefits that flow to dozens of nonprofits from our well-recognized recycling program. In addition to diverting 75% of the center's waste stream by volume from landfill, we enable the donation of goods and materials to schools and charitable organizations in our community. This past year we diverted more than 1,200 tons from the waste stream, contributing more than 200 tons of usable materials to the non-profit sector.
