Ownership & Management

The Moscone Center is owned by the City and County of San Francisco. The Moscone Center is privately managed by SMG; contract administration by the Convention Facilities Management Department, City and County of San Francisco.

The SMG Story
SMG was founded in 1977 to manage its first account, the Louisiana Superdome. Since its founding it has grown to over 170 facilities. These facilities benefit from the company's depth of resources and its unparalleled expertise, leadership, and creative problem-solving. Our successful
growth has been built on the many partnerships we have developed with our clients - both municipal and private.

Organizationally, SMG has two separate operating divisions, one for stadiums and arenas and another for convention centers, providing the same effective business principles to two distinctively different business segments. At this time SMG manages 70 arenas, 7 stadiums, 50 convention centers, 34 performing arts centers, and 10 other recreational facilities. Our ownership and team of dedicated corporate support personnel make us unrivalled in the field of private facility management. SMG is a joint venture in general partnership form with two equal principals: The Hyatt Hotel Company and ARAMARK Corporation. SMG's corporate offices are located at 300 Conshohocken State Road, Suite 770, West Conshohocken, PA 19428. Our phone number is 610-729-7900 and our fax number is 610-729-1590.

We also take pride in the continuing recognition of and accomplishments of our well-respected sustainability programs. From landmark recycling results to a federally acknowledged solar electric project, we stand as an example to our industry.SMG has a long history of service to our municipal partner in San Francisco. We sincerely appreciate the confidence which the City and County has placed in us since 1981, and we look forward to a successful future as we carve out Moscone West?s reputation as one of San Francisco's premier venues. Most importantly, we continue to acknowledge with gratitude the hard work and dedication of our employees whose energy and passion are the genuine source of our success.
